Nature-based solutions

Nature-based solutions link ecological processes and change to specific societal goals. Monitoring can track changes in biodiversity, vegetation and landscapes, and examine how ecological development interacts with the functions the intervention is intended to support.

Potential contributions

FutureGrounds can document how nature-based solutions affect biodiversity, vegetation, habitat structure and ecological processes. Monitoring can be adapted to different types of intervention and combine field data with drone, satellite and other spatial data. The focus may include ecological effects, the direction of change and the relationship between biodiversity and the function the solution is intended to support.

Relevant experience

A research foundation in vegetation ecology, biodiversity, hydrology and landscape dynamics, alongside experience in developing scenarios and monitoring designs across ecological gradients. Particularly relevant is the work on combining different types of observation and monitoring systems in which both environmental conditions and the relevant measurement parameters can change over time.
